What Is An Ashram
The word ‘Ashram’ is a term used in India to describe a place where people come together to engage in Spiritual practice e.g. Yoga and meditation. In an Ashram practitioners create a community, living a certain way of life. An Ashram is a place a person can discover God (of their understanding) within and be nourished by that experience. It is different to a retreat centre in that a person can stay for a day, weekend or weeks, while continuing to work, to benefit from the spiritual practices, contribute to the community and partake in a different way of life. At Anam Ashram, any person of any creed, nationality, colour or race can join the community and the Spiritual practices on offer. We practice Meditation, Prayer, Yoga, Karma Yoga, and other Awareness practices, so everyone can benefit in body, heart, mind and spirit.

John Bradshaw's "The Homecoming"
Held over twelve weeks, this course delves into the the issues that have followed us since we were children and seeks to address them in a healthy and healing way.

Korko Moses retreat
Swami Sharanananda Reverend Korko Moses, SJ, is a Jesuit priest living in India. A spiritual guide, he teaches contemplative practices of meditation and yoga, and founded Dhyanavanam, an Ashram inspired by Christian & Eastern spiritual traditions.

Vipassanā
Vipassanā or vipaśyanā, “insight,” is prajñā “insight into the true nature of reality”, defined as anicca “impermanence”, dukkha “suffering, unsatisfactoriness”, anattā “non-self”, the three marks of existence in the Theravada tradition, and as śūnyatā “emptiness” and Buddha-nature in the Mahayana traditions.

Hatha Yoga
Haṭha yoga is a branch of Yoga. The Sanskrit word हठ haṭha literally means “force” and thus alludes to a system of physical techniques. In India, haṭha yoga is associated in popular tradition with the ‘Yogis’ of the Natha Sampradaya through its traditional founder Matsyendranath.

Testimonials.
“In late 2018 I began a course in Anam Ashram taken from John Bradshaw’s book “The Homecoming” and found a real sense of place there. Kind of a home from home with a warm stove, tea, coffee and biscuits on hand it allowed me to carry out the work that I was there to do. Staff were extremely friendly and always ready to offer help in any way required. I’ll be back.”
Marty
Homecoming course participant
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of the community at Anam Ashram. I feel that meditation and the exchange about spiritual topics continue to nurture me and that I find peace here. The retreat days and evening courses are a great way to share what we have here with other interested people who in turn bring new ideas and views. Over the course of the last year and a half, I have developed in so many ways – in my personal spiritual path as well as in my perception of the world and all beings in it. Om Shanti.”
